چکیده

A fragment of the NWA 2975 Martian meteorite, an enriched basaltic shergottite, was analysed to complete its geochemical characterisation performed 10 years ago. By this means, feasibility employed techniques in a combined way for present and future space exploration missions can be tested. For aim, Raman spectroscopy used supported by micro energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (μ-EDXRF) laser-induced breakdown (LIBS) accurate interpretation molecular elemental results. results from two setups, InVia Renishaw RLS Simulator, were compared. The major minerals detected pyroxenes (mainly augite, pigeonite enstatite) plagioclases shocked maskelynite). allowed defining different metal compositions these main based on secondary bands 200–500 cm−1 region. In addition, other found such as merrillite, well pyrrhotite apatite, several veins cracks agreement with initial report Meteoritical Bulletin. Moreover, it should highlighted that coesite very first time meteorite.

Remote Raman Spectroscopy of Various Mixed and Composite Mineral Phases

Introduction: Remote-Raman [e.g.,1-5] and micro-Raman spectroscopy [e.g., 6-10] are being evaluated on geological samples for their potential applications on Mars rover or lander. The Raman lines of minerals are sharp and distinct. The Raman fingerprints of minerals do not shift appreciably but remain distinct even in sub-micron grains and, therefore, can be used for mineral identification in f...

Raman spectroscopy of the mineral rhodonite.

The mineral rhodonite an orthosilicate has been characterised by Raman spectroscopy. The Raman spectra of three rhodonites from Broken Hill, Pachapaqui and Franklin were compared and found to be similar. The spectra are characterised by an intense band at around 1000 cm(-1) assigned to the nu(1) symmetric stretching mode and three bands at 989, 974 and 936 cm(-1) assigned to the nu(3) antisymme...

Silica (agate-jasper) mineralization in the Chah Andoo plain, SW Damqan by Micro-Raman spectroscopy

The Chah Andoo plain is located about 100 km SW Damqan in Semnan Province. Basalt, andesite-basalt, tuff and metamorphic rocks are the main rocks which exposed in the study area. Agate, jasper and agate–jasper are silica minerals widespread at the plain surface as crushed fragments from a few millimeters to 0.5 meter in dimension. Banded (mono centric), stalactite (landscape), mossy and thunder...
